After reading the article from the Dallas Morning News that I’ve provided a link to below, I don’t think I can ever again patronize a Subway sandwich store.
Even if Mr. Batie did in fact make poor business decisions, Subway still should have gone out of their way to help Mr. Batie retain possession of his franchises. Our soldiers always need our support, but they need even more support when they’re serving ‘in country’.
Subway wouldn’t be in business without the freedom provided by our service personnel and reservists just like Mr. Batie. They put their personal lives on the back burner and place themselves in harm’s way to protect people like the scumbag executive who made a cool $100,00 profit from the sale of one of Mr. Batie’s franchises.
The actions of this chain are despicable and must not be overlooked. The only way I will ever enter a Subway store again is if Subway:
- returns Mr. Batie’s stores to him
- publicly apoligizes to Mr. Batie and all service members for using extremely poor judgement
- provides Mr. Batie with adequate compensation for lost revenues and expenses etc.
- provides every active duty service member with a free $5.00 foot long sandwich. What the heck. Make it every service member, active duty or retired. And they better throw in a bag of chips and a cold drink too.
Shame on you, Subway. Mountain Republic calls on all Americans who support our military to:
